Quick Start Guide

Everything you need to know to start flying FPV through 3D worlds

šŸ“– What is FPV SplatFly360?

FPV SplatFly360 is a web-based FPV drone simulator that lets you fly through photorealistic 3D environments captured with Gaussian Splatting technology. Real locations around the world — from Norwegian fjords to Japanese lighthouses — are available to explore.

Fly with a physical RC controller (Radiomaster, FrSky, Jumper, BetaFPV) or use on-screen touch controls on your tablet or phone. No downloads, no installations.

šŸš€ Getting Started in 5 Steps

Register an Account

Click Register in the top right corner. Enter your email, a password, and your pilot name. Registration is free and gives you access to free flight scenes.

Browse the Map

The world map shows all available flight sites. Green markers are free scenes you can fly immediately. Cyan markers require a coupon code or purchase to unlock.

Connect Your Controller or use touch

RC Controller: Connect your radio via USB. It will be recognized as a gamepad. Mode 2 controllers (Radiomaster TX12/TX16, FrSky Taranis, BetaFPV, Jumper) work out of the box.

Touch Device: On iPad, iPhone, or Android, dual on-screen joysticks appear automatically in Fly Mode — no controller needed!

Click Fly Now!

Click on a flight site marker, view the details, and click Fly Now! The viewer opens with the 3D scene loaded and ready.

Arm and Take Off

Switch to Fly Mode (click the fly icon in the bottom bar). Move your throttle stick all the way down, then arm using Channel 5 on your controller — or tap the ARM button on touch devices. Raise the throttle and fly!

šŸ”’ Arming Safety v0.3

For safety, the drone will only arm when:

This prevents accidental takeoffs. If you connect your controller with the switch already in ARM position, simply flip it to DISARM and back to ARM (with throttle at minimum) to arm the drone.

šŸ’” Tip: For EdgeTX/OpenTX radios, the default USB mode already sends channels as a gamepad. No special configuration needed. Just plug in and fly!

šŸ“± Touch Controls NEW v0.3

On touch-enabled devices (iPad, iPhone, Android), dual on-screen joysticks appear automatically when you switch to Fly Mode:

šŸŽÆ Flight Modes

ACRO (Magenta)

Full manual control. Sticks control rotation rate. The drone does NOT auto-level. This is the mode used by experienced FPV pilots for freestyle and racing. Allows full flips and rolls.

HORIZON (Orange)

A hybrid mode. At small stick deflections, the drone auto-levels like ANGLE mode. At full stick, it allows flips like ACRO. Great for learning acrobatics with a safety net.

ANGLE (Green)

Sticks control the tilt angle of the drone (max ~75°). Release the sticks and the drone returns to level. Best for beginners. No flips possible.

šŸ’” Mode Indicator: The current flight mode is always shown at the bottom center of the viewer — Magenta (ACRO), Orange (HORIZON), or Green (ANGLE). On RC controllers, the mode only changes when you physically flip the CH6 switch.

Settings Panel

āš™ļø Drone Settings

The settings panel (āš™ļø gear icon) lets you fine-tune your drone's behavior. Changes take effect immediately and are saved to your pilot profile.

šŸ“· Camera Angle

Simulates the physical camera tilt on a real FPV drone. 20-30° is typical for cruising. Higher angles (40-60°) are for fast racing. When the drone tilts forward to fly, the camera angle keeps the horizon visible.

Max Rate Maximum rotation speed at full stick deflection (degrees per second). 670-720
Expo Curves the stick response. Lower (0.1-0.3) = softer center, precise hovering. Higher (0.5-0.7) = more aggressive, faster flips. 0.3

Throttle Expo Curves the throttle response. Quick rise at low throttle for punchy takeoffs, flatter near hover for fine altitude control. 0.3

Bounce (Restitution) How much energy is retained when hitting a surface. 0.3 = gentle bounce. 1.0+ = aggressive bounce like an FPV drone. 0.8-1.2
Friction How much the drone slides along surfaces. Lower = slides more, like ice. Higher = grips and stops. 0.5-0.7
Collision Radius v0.3 Size of the drone's collision sphere. Default 12cm. Smaller = can fit through tighter gaps. 12 cm

SettingWhat It Does
Volume Master volume of the 4-motor drone sound. The pitch changes with throttle — just like a real drone!
Max Distance Distance at which the drone sound fades to zero. Simulates flying far away. Default: 250m.

Three configurable custom sliders let you tweak advanced parameters:

šŸ’” Pro Tip: Your settings are saved to your pilot profile. When you fly from a different computer or device, your settings follow you! Adjust them in the Pilot Dashboard or directly in the viewer.
