❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to install any specific software to use fpvSplatFly360?
▼
No! fpvSplatFly360 runs entirely in your web browser. There's nothing to download or install. Just visit the website, create a free account, and start flying. The 3D scenes are streamed directly to your browser using Gaussian Splatting technology.
Does fpvSplatFly360 run in any browser?
▼
fpvSplatFly360 works best in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. These browsers have the best support for WebGL and WebGPU, which we use to render the 3D scenes at high performance. Firefox also works well. Safari is supported but may have limitations with gamepad controllers.
What are the hardware requirements?
▼
Minimum: A computer or laptop with a dedicated graphics card (GPU) from the last 5 years, 8GB RAM, and a modern web browser. Most gaming PCs and recent Macs work great.
Recommended: A gaming PC with NVIDIA GTX 1060 or better, 16GB RAM, and a gamepad controller (like Radiomaster TX12/TX16, FrSky, or any USB gamepad).
Internet: A stable broadband connection. Scenes are streamed and typically load 50-200MB of data.
How do I connect my remote controller?
▼
Connect your controller via USB to your computer. It should be recognized as a standard gamepad. We support Mode 2 controllers with Throttle, Yaw, Pitch, and Roll. Popular controllers like Radiomaster TX12/TX16, FrSky Taranis, and BetaFPV work out of the box.
Channel mapping:
• Channel 1-4: Roll, Pitch, Throttle, Yaw (standard AETR)
• Channel 5: ARM/DISARM switch
• Channel 6: Flight mode switch (ANGLE/HORIZON/ACRO)
Make sure your controller is in gamepad/joystick mode. For EdgeTX/OpenTX controllers, this is usually the default USB mode.
How can I fly a scene?
▼
Step 1: Register for a free account on our website.
Step 2: Browse the map and click on a flight site that interests you.
Step 3: Click "Get Access" and enter a coupon code (some scenes are free!).
Step 4: Click "Fly Now!" to open the viewer.
Step 5: In the viewer, switch to Fly Mode, arm your drone (Channel 5), and take off!
Tip: Start with ANGLE mode if you're new to FPV. Switch to ACRO when you're comfortable.
Can I add my own scenes?
▼
Yes! We welcome scene submissions from the community. If you have a 3D Gaussian Splat scene (PLY or compressed PLY format) that you'd like to share, contact us at
fly360xr@gmail.com. Include the scene file, GPS coordinates, and a short description. We'll review it and add it to the flight map.

What is Gaussian Splatting?
▼
3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) is a cutting-edge technique for creating photorealistic 3D scenes from photographs or video. Unlike traditional 3D models made of polygons, Gaussian Splats are made of millions of tiny, fuzzy ellipsoids that capture the color, shape, and transparency of real-world objects.
The result is a stunningly realistic 3D environment that you can fly through - every leaf, stone, and shadow is preserved from the original capture. It's like exploring a real place, but in 3D!

What is FPV?
▼
FPV (First Person View) is a style of drone flying where the pilot sees exactly what the drone sees, through a live video feed from a camera mounted on the drone. It's like sitting in the cockpit of the drone!
FPV drones are flown using special goggles or a screen, and the pilot uses a remote controller with joysticks to control throttle, yaw, pitch, and roll. It gives an incredible sense of speed and immersion - and fpvSplatFly360 brings this experience to your browser, no real drone needed!
In our simulator, you control a virtual FPV drone through photorealistic 3D environments using your gamepad controller.
